MBA Employment Reports 2026: Compare Salaries, Placements, Recruiters and Career Outcomes

MBA Employment Reports

Selecting the right business school can be an arduous task for MBA aspirants. While brand reputation matters, one of the most important factors in choosing a business school is its ability to help students achieve their desired career goals. School MBA employment reports provide valuable insights into post-MBA career outcomes, including hiring industries, recruiters, salaries, job functions and geographic placement, helping applicants evaluate which schools are best aligned with their career objectives.

Across the world’s leading business schools, consulting, finance / banking and technology continue to be the three largest post-MBA recruiting sectors. However, hiring patterns vary significantly by school. INSEAD places nearly half of its MBA graduates into consulting, while Wharton is one of the leaders in finance hiring. UC Berkeley Haas benefits from its proximity to the Silicon Valley; this translates into robust hiring in the technology sector. Consulting and finance sectors continue to command the highest salaries, with median salaries at the top US schools being $190,000 and $175,000 respectively.

This analysis compares employment outcomes at leading global MBA programs across the world, especially those that ranked among the top in the Financial Times Global MBA Rankings 2026, to understand the hiring patterns, post-MBA geographies, salaries and hiring companies.

All employment statistics have been compiled directly from each school’s latest published MBA employment reports.

Notable MBA Employment Trends in 2026

Five clear trends emerge:

  • Consulting remains the largest recruiter at most elite MBA programs.
  • Technology hiring has recovered after the slowdown seen in the previous year; Berkeley Haas saw technology placements increase from 24% to nearly 39%, while HEC Paris also recorded a sharp rise (16% to 27%).
  • Consulting is the top paying sector followed by financial services, especially, private equity and investment banking.
  • European schools such as INSEAD and IESE offer particularly diverse international outcomes, whereas leading U.S. schools place the majority of graduates (almost 94%) domestically.
  • Manufacturing is among the top hiring industries in China.

The school employment report categorizes employment outcomes by industry or function. However, this data has its limitations. For example, those working in the finance industry could take up finance roles or tech roles or marketing/sales roles. The report does not provide you with this detailed break-up.

Similarly, someone working in a finance function/role could be employed in the technology industry or manufacturing industry or healthcare industry.

So, if you’re looking for some specific role-related information to determine whether a school is the right fit for your career aspirations, what can you do?

One of the most effective ways is to engage with current students and alumni. They can provide firsthand insights into the recruiting process, internship opportunities, career resources and support you can expect from that program for your targeted career path, so that you’re able to make a more informed decision.
