Right now I am planning to start GMAT preparation and target is to get into IIM or ISB. I am targeting 2018 batch admission for 1 year executive MBA. What will be best time to give exam and for how long score will be validated?
Also please suggest on any preparation strategy and what should be my target score?
Thanks,

You can take the exam this year when the pressure of applications is not there. The score is valid for 5 years. You can retake it if you don't get the score you expected.Anu_gilhotra wrote:I am targeting 2018 batch admission for 1 year executive MBA. Stop worrying about a specific target score. Give it your best.Anu_gilhotra wrote:Also please suggest on any preparation strategy and what should be my target score?
You'll find several preparation strategies here --> GMAT study plans.
Read them and prepare a personalised plan that works for you.

Hello Sameer,
You can consider me Naive in this field. I want to know how suitable is my profile to go for GMAT.
I am running a very small-size IT company from last 6 years. I have started it right after my graduation (Engineering).
In starting, we were doing good, now my company growth is stagnant. We are not growing anymore. I think, the lack of my corporate experience and knowledge is somewhere hindering our growth.
I want to take 1 year full time program from a reputed institute where I can learn and understand the business and management tactics. Thats why I am willing to take GMAT exam. As I have a kid, it would be difficult for me to go for 2-years full time program. My plan is to have few years corporate experience and then again join my business. So, I am looking for colleges which provide campus placements as well. I am focusing on IIM -B and L, keeping my family location in mind.
Please tell me, how suitable is my profile for GMAT for the above mentioned colleges. If not, then please advise me for other exam.
Also, I would like to know, how should I start preparation and when do we have to register for the tests.
Thanks in Advance
Shraddha

It's a good time to think about getting an MBA, but you'd need to think of a few points before you go ahead. More on this below.shra wrote:I want to know how suitable is my profile to go for GMAT.

Are you sure that's the reason? If so, why was it not a constraint in the first 6 (and the most difficult) years. For a new company that has weathered the toughest phase, have you analysed what else could be the reason? Are you sure that an MBA is the right fix to the problem?

That's commendable of you. There are very few moms with kids who consider going for a full-time program. Have you read these stories?

You may be disappointed with this expectation. Read up more on how placements happen for GMAT MBA programs.shra wrote:So, I am looking for colleges which provide campus placements as well.
Look at the pros and cons of your decision (since much of it has a personal dependency) and then go ahead with GMAT prep.shra wrote:Please tell me, how suitable is my profile for GMAT for the above mentioned colleges. If not, then please advise me for other exam.
It's best to start preparation a year before the application deadlines, You may be running against time for this season, if you have started yet.shra wrote:Also, I would like to know, how should I start preparation and when do we have to register for the tests.
There are several resources here that tell you how to prepare for GMAT
