Hi Rohit,

Want to know about the work permit post-MBA in Singapore. How much time can we stay in Singapore after MBA, in case we don't get placed during the course?

And what about after getting the job, will the company be applying for a visa for us or the work permit automatically gets extended once you get a job there?

Regards,

Gaurav

Ruchi, your acads look quite good except your gmat scores.

top b schools do look at gmat score as it helps them to reduce competition, however if you have a great profile, it more than makes up for the low gmat score.

i believe gmat score of 650 along with a good work ex and leadership gives you decent chance. just make sure you focus on your strengths in the app and make it different to catch the eye of the ad com.

cheers!

Gaurav,

you can stay for 3 more months on student visa after your course is finished.

The company will be applying for a work pass for you. Usually its not too hard as a lot of foreign passport holders are working in SG.

Hello sir,

I recently took the GMAT and scored 720 in it. I have graduated from BITS-Pilani with B.E.(Hons) in Computer Science. I am currently placed in Sapient Global Markets, Blore. However, my CGPA is really low - 6.34/10. I would be applying for colleged only after 2 years of work experiece, that is, in 2015. I wanted to know if I should be looking at NUS ideally with my score, cgpa and profile.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My profile in Brief:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

10th - 94%

12th - 89%

B.E.(Hons) Computer Science - 6.34/10

Thesis - Data Analytics, Supervised by Dean, IIIT Hyderabad.

School Head boy - 2008-2009

Selected for International Student Exchange Program (JENESYS) - 2008

University Footbal Team Captain - 2010-2012

Department head - Department of Sponsorship and marketting - 2010 - 2012

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The reason I am asking this question is so that i can better prepare my profile depending on your suggestion.

Your answer would be greatly appreciated. My major worry is my CGPA. Would it be a bottle neck for my apllication? How can i off shoot it?

Thank you :)

Azeem: The best advice to give you is to focus on your strengths.

Keep on performing in your workplace, and try to gain broader business knowledge. Try to achieve something in your hobbies, start a mimicry club or participate in competitions. Keep yourself updated and have an opinion for everything. All the best for NUS

Nikhil: The best way to offshoot is to not mention it unless required. Focus on your achievements. A strong case is required with just two years of work ex, so try to show that you have been enterprising since your school days which adds to your professional experience. All the best

goelanu: no harm in retaking gmat if you have time, anything above 700 just makes sure hat you dont have any score issues during admission. but then again, rest of the profile is much more important. average gmat in the SG schools ranges from 650-700, so it should be fine if you portray your strengths in the application, why you want to do mba and how you can contribute with the experience that you bring. Just make it interesting, something which catches the eye, like the software that you made for the doctor

HI Rohit,
I want to apply to NUS this year. My GMAT score is 710( Q49, V36 ). I got a low IR score - 3. Should I retake GMAT or IR is not that important.
Xth % - 77.4(CBSE)
XIIth % - 70(CBSE)
B.tech - 8.26 CGPA
Work Ex - 4.5 Years, currently working in SAP Labs
Extra Curricular not much. Took part in some company's CSR activities. An avid bike tourer, have done lot of bike tours.
Is my profile competitive for NUS?
