The NUS Singapore MBA (National University of Singapore) ranks high on the list of Indian and Asian applicants who are looking for a good business school closer to home-sweet-home.

And the MBA fees charged by Asian schools doesn't burn too big a hole in the pocket (compared to US programs). In terms of locational advantages, Singapore offers a huge range of career opportunities and an excellent standard of living.

We have published blog posts on NUS Singapore earlier:

1 - Why NUS Singapore MBA

2 - Interview with Alan Chua - Marketing & Admissions @ NUS Singapore MBA

3 - NUS Singapore MBA and 4 other admits for Rohit Jaggi

This post will hopefully provide more information about the program. We hope to get admitted and current students to share their stories.

If you have questions about the program, feel free to ask your questions here.

Greetings!

Hello fellow MBA aspirants/ interested individuals,

I am Rohit Jaggi, an admit to the NUS MBA FT class starting July, 2012. I had taken help from Sameer / MBA Crystal Ball during my application stage and it did pay dividends. Thus, i would be more than happy to address any queries/concerns you have regarding NUS B school.

A bit about my self: 3 years experience in Deloitte Consulting- information technology consulting for financial services clients. Engineer by graduation, CFA level 2 candidate and GMAT score of 740. An avid sports freak and on and off reader.

I focused mainly on Asian B schools during my application stage due to the ROI and plans to continue working in India/Asian hubs. NUS was my first choice due to a very diverse classroom, great brand name in Asia and Singapore being one of the best places to work in Asia with no language hassles.

NUS application is a bit different with essays changing every year and being more opinion based rather than based on the candidate's experience. The trend continues in the interview stage, where questions range from status of education system in Asia to your favorite car. I believe a candidate having clarity of though, clear goals and awareness has a good chance of getting through.

Glad that i got through and would be gladder if i could be of any help to you during your application. All the best!!

Cheers!
Rohit

Hey Neha,

I would suggest you to apply to NUS again by highlighting your strengths and leaving out the relatively weak points in your profile. Here are the strong points in your profile:

1. ICSE scores are good, but usually high school scores do not carry that much weight
2. Diverse experience, make sure you are able to build a connect between your work in different industries and not come out as a person who can't settle in one.
3. Years of exp is just around NUS' average. This time its around 5.5

Now there are some concerns, such as low UG grades, but maybe you can cover it up with your really interesting ex curricular such as street jazz dancing. If you can take the GMAT again and score higher, it might work for you as 670 is below average for Indians. However the avg GMAT in current class is 650.

In a nutshell, highlight your strengths, avoid weak points and write great essays. If you need any help with essays, Sameer is your guy, i can share my apps from last year if you want.

All the best!

Folks,

As this thread gains traction, I need to jump in here for a quick technicality.

For confidentiality, privacy and legal reasons, we can't facilitate file sharing (specially when it involves personal or institutional intellectual property) via this site.

However, if Rohit wants to share his email ID (a practice that we usually discourage, again for privacy reasons), he can post it here for readers to reach him.

It would then be an offline discussion between 2 individuals and MBA Crystal Ball would not be involved.

Hi Vishal,

you have extremely good acads. However gmat score is slightly below average(indian pool), so you might want to take that again.

avg. years of experience is around 5 here, so you might wanna wait another year and gain more experience.

In your apps, again, just highlight your strengths, demonstrate extra curriculars in addition to your leadership experience and show that you are different from the crowd.

All the best!
