The Manchester Business School MBA based in the UK is one of the leading programs in Europe. It's got a good MBA ranking. businessweek thinks it's the 3rd best program globally in terms of Return on Investment.

It is also longer than most European MBA courses. That allows Manchester MBA students to experience all that UK has to offer, for longer. Manchester business school MBA students can use the 10-week MBA internship to get into their dream companies.

Read Prashanta Chettri's experience on our blog and then come back here to post your queries.

Anything and everything you wanted to know about the Manchester Business School MBA will be revealed if you ask specific queries about GMAT scores, class profile, internships, jobs or UK work permits in the new visa regime.

The internship hunt has already started for me and I will be happy to share my experiences thus far. Concerns about a job post-MBA will be a constant companion when you are doing your MBA.

The earlier you start your preparations the better it is. A few things that you may want to think about right now, even before you start your MBA are:

1. What are the strengths and weaknesses of your CV?

2. How do you want to overcome your weaknesses and solidify your strengths during the course of your MBA?

3. How appealing am I for a prospective employer?
(This will mean you will have to think about what sectors you are targeting and what those sectors look for)

Hi,
I have my interview for MBS this week. My GMAT score is just 630 but I have
4 years of work ex at Deloitte consulting. Moreover I have volunteered at
Manchester for a social organization for 3 months. I have good experience
with global NGOs and the development sector is is where I want to make a
career in. I really want to get into MBS!
Can you please give me your inputs on my chances and some tips for the
interview also.

Atul

Hi Atul,

I would not worry too much about the GMAT score. The school obviously likes your profile and that is why you have got an interview.

The more important thing for you focus on is your plan post MBA and how the MBA helps you get there. Make sure you understand and are confident about what you want. This may sound basic, but it's incredible how much importance is given to this by schools. For example, if your plan is to continue in a consulting role in the development sector in UK, then your story i.e. past experience + MBA = geography change in the development sector, will make sense to interviewers.

Other than this, know your CV well. Practice narrating situations where you displayed communication skills, leadership skills, teamwork etc.

That is all that I can think of right now. Once again, believe in yourself and don't worry about the GMAT score.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Prashanta

Dear Atul

How did your interview go with MBS?

Did you hear back from Manchester after your interview?

I am on the boat as yours.

Any idea what is the acceptance rate after the interview at MBS?

All the best.

Dear Prashanta

Can you comment on the acceptance rate of MBS post the interview?

Also, I heard that sometimes they offer conditional offers to some candidates.

DO you have have idea about why conditional offers are given to students at MBS? E.g. because of low GMAT etc. Can they say that - we like your profile but we will take you in after you get a good GMAT

Are you aware of such conditional offers being offered to students?

I am awaiting a response from them ( post interview ), so still curious.

Thanks a lot.

Hi guys,

Firstly, please accept my apology for the delay in getting back to you. I know this must an anxious time for you guys.

Atul - how did your interview go? You should expect to hear back from the school in around a month's time(at least that is how much time I had to wait).

WanttoRock - love you username! I don't quite know what the acceptance rate is at the school. I will see if I can ask around. I am guessing you are particularly interested in the acceptance rate for Indian students? Anyways, let me see what I can find out.

As far as the conditional offers are concerned, I have heard of situations where they are interested in your profile but ask you to retake the GMAT. But a few of my friends were saying that they were asked to do so during the interview itself. This is, however, what I have heard from others and not personally experienced. The offer letter is very clear with the terms and conditions though, so I would suggest that you wait for it. I am assuming that you have also finished your interview. How did that one go?

I do hope this helps. Happy to answer any more questions.

Regards,
Prashanta
