Hi rahulvsd,

i just wrote a long reponse to your query but the webpage expired, I now do not have the will to rewrite all of tat, so I am going to keep it short :)

your extra-curculars are exciting esp. the spanish language part. No Indian student that I know of speaks spanish.

Let's now jump straight to the schools
ISB/Ross - stretch, beacuse of your GMAT score and I feel that the adcoms will view your profile as a 'usual' IT guy.

Kelley/Emory - your best bet out of thse schools, esp Kelley beacuse of teh sales and marketing exp you mentioned.

Tepper - you should try this one but they look for 700+ GMAT score for indian students.

My final advice to you is to broaden your list of schools, and also try to look for schools in europe.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Nitin,

Am skeptical of Europe right now because of the economic situation.

Any other US Schools you suggest?

rahulsvd,

I won't rule out europe, simply because there are really good schools plus the economic situation isn't going to remain under recession forever.
Its better to get into the top school in a european country than to get into som lower ranked school in the US.

regarding schools in teh US. I would look at Simon, Smith, Tippie and schools in California such as Marshall since you want to get into sales and marketing and you come from a tech background. there are lot of companies in the bay area which look for candidates with your kind of exp.

So, in short, first of all select teh companies that you would like tyo work for and then based on their location choose the schools.

hope this helps.

Hi Nitin,

Does Kelley have a Loan program for International students without a US based Co signer? I have emailed the school twice on this, but am yet to get a reply. Can you please confirm on this.

Hi Nitin.

I am a Fall 2013 Kelley Aspirant.
Could you please share your experience at Kelley? What is the student culture like at Kelley? What is different about Kelley as compared to other BSchools? How is the General management and technology consulting program ? What challenges did you face as a student?

My profile is GMAT : 720
2.5 years of IT experience.
Very good academics.

Also could you throw some light on how difficult is it for IT girls to get into the MBA program since we are a over represented group.

Thanks

Hi mbaJazz,
sorry for the late response. Good to know that you are interested in Kelley.
The school is extremely collaborative and you find your peers to be very friendly. The mid-western culture and values are strongly embedded in this school, and thats the type students they look for. We are competitive but there is no cut-throat competition.

Now, regarding your fit for Kelley. Females still are a minority in B-schools. having said that you still have to differentiate yourself from the rest of the crowd. as your gmat is excellent, you stand a good chance. remember that cv is extremely important. I would say more important than the essays. Kelley is primarily a marketing school. check out the companies that come on campus and see if any of those interest you, and then express that interest in your essays. that would show to the ad-com that you exactly know what you want.

hope this helps.

Hi mfreak,

you have a great chance getting through kelley. with 8 yrs exp in product development, i feel that you are a perfect candidate for our school. as I sid in my previous post that kelley is primarily a marketing school, therefore, your background and your post mba goals are completely in line with what Kelley offers.

I would say go-ahead and apply and bring all your experiences within product development and how that would help you in your post-mba full-time role in product management.

hope this helps.

Thanks Nitin. I was researching the school and I was looking for community service opportunities at Kelley. I found the Net Impact club but apart from that I couldnt find any. And Net impact seems to be something for social entrepreneurship, like starting a non profit etc., Can you please let me know what avenues you have at Kelley to contribute towards community service initiatives? Clubs, organizations, any opportunity that you can name would be very helpful to give me a better insight and help me writ ebetter essays :)
