Placement is almost entirely student driven, so most of the companies visiting would be based on the students' initiative, so mixture of companies result. Here's the definitive list of those companies who hired this year from the campus. (Note : there were other companies who visited but did not hire)

24x7customer
Apigee
Bosch
Deloitte
Diamond

Goldman Sachs

Also mentioning that no recruiter-specific event was held .

In addition to the above companies several people got placed through their own efforts, the above list does not include those companies.

Hello Sir,

I have been exploring some schools from east to west for quite sometime and with the cost factor being of prime importance thought of exploring IIM's PGPX as well. I have gone thru ABC websites and my focus have been particularly on their placements. Somewhere in one of the past posts I read about recruitment being student driven and this has caused me to delve further into their placement process.

Do companies really come to their campus for hiring 1 yr PGPX grads? Also very few companies are shown in their placement records, so do all the grads get placed or should I understand most of the cohort is sponsored candidate and hence will go back to the same employer.I could not even find names of hiring companies for IIM's A. I would like to pursue in either of Finance or strategy or both. I have pursued CA and CIMA and have a total of 6 yrs of PQE with 3 yrs into audit and 4 yrs into corporate banking so what kind of opportunities can I expect post MBA from either ABC and which would be the one suitable for me. Amongst A, B & C which one is more likely a candidate for consulting and financial services firms.

IIM's A has this August 10 as deadline and so I would be grateful if I get to know about it sooner.

Thanks & Regards,

Hi
I cannot answer for IIM-A since I dont know how exactly the placement went this year.
First of all the programmes are known by different names in these 3 institutions: IIM _ A (PGPX), IIMB (EPGP) and IIMC (PGPEX)

Regarding your questions:

* Do companies really come to their campus for hiring 1 yr PGPX grads?

==> Yes. Since placements are student-driven it is really upto the student placement committee to get companies which match the students' profiles/interests

* Also very few companies are shown in their placement records, so do all the grads get placed or should I understand most of the cohort is sponsored candidate and hence will go back to the same employer.

==> Not all candidates get placed especially since there are several people with very high experience and people are selective about what they want etc.

Just to clarify, in our batch there were no company sponsored candidates and I dont know of anyone in EPGP who were company sponsored in the previous batches either, so "going back the same employer" is not really a preferred choice unless there is a very sweet offer from the previous employer.

* I would like to pursue in either of Finance or strategy or both.

==> This is a difficult one to answer.
We don't see many IB and PE type firms coming for recruitment. This year in particular financial services firms recruitment was not good.
Consulting also is not as common as that for the 2-year programmes, having said that we did get a few consulting companies in IIMB. I cant say which institute is better for finance w.r.t. 1 year programmes.

Hi
you haven't mentioned which industry you come from and your extra-curricular activities, and responsibilities at work, career progression etc.

Regardless of this, your GMAT score is on the lower side. you can look up the average GMAT score for the participants of this programme on IIMB website to get an idea of what is needed.
A score of around 700 will put you in league with the average. The IT crowd tends to have a higher GMAT score.
if your profile is "different" from the masses a lower GMAT score can still get you in, but in my batch the lowest score was 640 or 650.

Hi,

i am from the IT industry but with a little variation, in that i moved from software development to Process Improvements, Six Sigma and other quality initiatives and have been working on this from past 5 years. I have worked with an international company in South Korea (not onsite).

I have won couple of performance awards during my career and certificate of merit during my 10th grad.

ok, you need to highlight in your essays any significant achievements or anything in your work/extracurricular profile which will set you apart from the rest of the crowd. The profiles of most of the IT junta is identical so the Adcom needs some way of differentiating and selecting the better set of applicants.

Also your vision post-MBA is equally important in your essays.

Hi Krunal,
If you are planning to stay in IT itself, for the first few years you need to focus on relevant technical areas of interest and see if you can pursue some relevant technical certifications ( I am assuming that you cannot look at pursuing MS abroad etc). After a few years of team leading /project management you can look at getting PMP certified.
For most executive MBA programs, the average work experience of the participants are between 8 to 10 years. An MBA programme is supposed to give you more business facing roles, so have a think about whether you really want to get into such roles and then plan on doing an MBA.
