With your permission, I'll update some of what you've written in the quoted section below to enhance readability.
Also, for the reference of other readers, here's the link to a sample GMAT score report.
Technically, it doesn't matter. Bschools know that you are applying multiple bschools and that you may not be absolutely sure before you take the GMAT score.NRS wrote:1)When I send the GMAT official score report it also contains the list of 5 colleges to which I have sent my scores...so does it materialize (did you mean 'matter'?) if I'm attaching that report for the application of a school whose name is not in the list of default 5 colleges?
For instance, you might've expected a high score and prepared your list of 5 schools accordingly. And then the actual score turned out to be lower.
You will have to re-strategise, and look at other bschools where you have a better chance.
So it's normal. Don't worry about it.
I don't think they'll wait till you finish the whole application process (interview etc). It's a privilege that they extend to ensure that the GMAT score doesn't become a bottleneck at the time of submission. But it is not a good idea to stretch that privilege for $30.NRS wrote:2) do you have any experience regarding sending the official GMAT score to NUS after the deadline..
If you are serious about certain schools, follow their admission protocol diligently.

You are playing a risky game here!NRS wrote:...hence was wondering if i can send the ofc request to GMAC to send them the scores once i submit the appln after deadline which happens to be mar 31 unfortunately

I realise that you are reaching out to gain some support here, but I'm forced to leave out the sugar-coating and be strict with you in this response (though I don't have the right to reprimand you). Please take it objectively and see if my views and interpretation seems rational.
The GMAT score isn't reaching the NUS admissions team, the recommeder has stopped responding to your requests and your essays also aren't ready yet.
All this happening on the final day of submissions isn't exactly the best culminaton of your application strategy.
If I had been on the admissions committee, all these signals would just give me the impression that you haven't planned in advance for this or (still worse) you aren't serious about our b-school.
Your best bet is to approach the admissions office and tell them what's happening. But before that you need to have some clarity about the issues (e.g. why isn't the recommender responding, can you nominate somebody else in his/her place?).
Just ensure that this doesn't happen for your subsequent applications.
I only hope you are able to sort this out before the admission officers start reviewing individual applications.

Admission related query
Post by arindamb » April 2nd, 2013, 2:25 pm
I am an MBA aspirant and that pursued me to hit the GMAT. After a couple of months prep I appeared and got a devastating 560(Q49,V19). I am very upset with my verbal score. Now, I know that I cannot afford enough time to prepare and re-appear for the test. With my work schedules it will be more difficult for me.
A brief about my profile, I have 7 years of work-ex in IT in the banking and financial domain. Did my B.tech from one of the premiere institute with a descent 69%. Also, was a part of an NGO sometime back.
I feel with this background and GMAT score my profile will not be very strong candidature for most of the colleges. Can you please suggest what is the way ahead for me? Dropping the plan of doing MBA, would really be tough for me to accept as well as it will be tough to re-appear GMAT with better preparation in verbal as time is the constraint for me.
Can you please suggest the colleges I should target if I wish to go with this score, and how mediocre those colleges are?
Looking forward for your kind advice.

This is one of the easier questions to answer, Ankush.ankushsharma2002 wrote:With an experience of about 5 years in this profession, should I prepare for CAT or GMAT...??
Go for the GMAT based MBA programs. It's too late to think about CAT options.

Sorry to hear about the experience, Arindam. Seems like it was a case of a bad day more than anything else.
For someone with your articulation abilities, a GMAT verbal score of 19 is way too less. Was it nerves or the questions were harder than you expected?
arindamb wrote:Now, I know that I cannot afford enough time to prepare and re-appear for the test. With my work schedules it will be more difficult for me.
If you agree that it was less about you capability to do well on the test and more about having bad luck, then you don't need to repeat the whole GMAT preparation process. Some effort in brushing up the verbal and you'd be ready to take the test again.
Is that an option?
I agree, Arindam.arindamb wrote:I feel with this background and GMAT score my profile will not be very strong candidature for most of the colleges.

You don't need to drop your MBA plans yet. There are 6 whole months to go before Round 1 deadlines. If you can plan your schedule and squeeze out a few hours a week, that could make a big difference.
arindamb wrote:Can you please suggest the colleges I should target if I wish to go with this score, and how mediocre those colleges are?
If you decide to go ahead with the current score, there are several schools that have an average GMAT score of 530-550 (click on the link for a list of bschools). But none of them may have the fuel in them to take your career where you are expecting. So be careful before you send out an application to schools just on the basis of their GMAT scores.
We come across several folks who get GMAT scores that are very low compared to their expectations. Several of them take it twice / thrice to get it higher. And they get into good bschools.
So don't be disheartened with the current score. You have plenty of time to take a step back and re-strategise.

I just started to prepare for GMAT few days back. I tried to search many study options.
Just to be consistent and on the track, I attended a trial class in one of the very famous MBA coaching institute as well, but didn't find that very convincing so left that idea.
To not waste much time in searching for the study material, I found the following paid link, which has series of tutorials.
[Moderator edit: Taken out link]
Please suggest is it worth to buy such packages or suggest some similar kind of link which may be more useful.
Thanks!

Sure, you can give it a shot.
The modular pricing would allow you to test the waters and then decide whether you should continue or not.
Ensure that you don't skip the basic prep material that's a must have:
