No first hand inputs, I'm afraid. But I did check out the website to find out more. So take this purely as an academic viewpoint.shreyasitbhu wrote:Do you have any point of view on this program (Recruiting, Reputation etc)?
This uncertainty stays with the MSMS program too, doesn't it?shreyasitbhu wrote:The other option I have is to wait another year and apply to Kellogg's one year MBA program...But I cannot be sure if I would definitely get that opportunity.

From what I understand, the MIT MSMS program (like most MS degrees) doesn't require any work experience. They are inviting applications from folks who have an MBA degree. So I'm guessing there'll be students in your class with lesser experience than yours.
With excellent credentials like that, I get a feeling that you are shortchanging yourself.shreyasitbhu wrote:IIM Calcutta (PGP) (Institute rank 10)

You have already attended one of the best MBA programs in the country only about 2 years back. So the learning value-add at MIT from the MSMS degree seems to be a question mark. They need students to complete a 'Master's Thesis' (instead of an internship), which could make it a theoretical exercise.
Also, you are already working in consulting with a top-notch brand, so MSMS won't be a career changing tool for you.
I might be wrong, but the current perception I have is that you'd be using this degree purely to move across geographies.
If that's true, have you evaluated the possibility of talking to your bosses / HR dept to see if you could be transferred or seconded to the US?
Most global consulting firms like Deloitte maintain an internal database of international opportunities. And they give a preference to employees before they consider others.
