Why do you think certficate is not good?
It will bridge the gap between H1b and me, Also it will give valuable experience of education system there and little handholding to get into job market, I will get some time to prepare myself and understand US job market.
Only con I see is the money I spend which may go upto 25 lakhs
H1b is not going to drop from sky and I am not putting 1 year prep for MBA and 2 year of course plus 80 to 100 lakhs.
I love certficate despite its cost. I would love not to spend money but thats just time waste and years are important as well.

My knowledge of certificate courses and opportunities is limited. It would be better if you check with people that have taken that route.

I am in bit dilemma or you can call a mid career crisis. I am a mechanical engineer with 9 years of total experience however my most of experience comes with top IT companies in contrast to my basic engineering degree in Mechanical.
I will say it frankly that my main aim to settle down abroad and also complete my post grard degree first.
Need to help in deciding the course to choose from like MS in MiS or MBA or any othervsuitable to my profile.
kindly help.
Regards,
Sourabh

Your dilemma isn’t an uncommon one.
I am not a big advocate of pursuing a degree just for the sake of being able to settle in the US. In my opinion, the degree should be the primary intent, if at all one is required, and everything else - settling in the US, etc. - should be spontaneous side effects. Following that line of thought, what do you want to achieve in the short (~2 years) and long term (~5 years)? Where do your interests lie? Are you looking for a career change (this becomes an important question since you have stated that your current line of work is very different from your basic degree)? These are the questions you will need to ask yourself. Once you have the answers all thought out and firmed up, we can chart the path forward. That path may lead you to the US.

This puts me in to delima what I should be doing to grow in my career as the stuff I am doing is very repetetive and I am not learning anything. So I listed out three options for my self:
1: Do a Part time MBA in US.- This is not possible given my current Visa situation.
2: Do a full time MBA in US/Europe/India. I am working on this.
3: Do some technical certication and look for growth in technical domain.
Below are my stats:
GMAT – 730 (Q49, V40, IR7 and AWA6)
TOEFL – 112
PGDBA Symbiosis (Corporate part time program) – 75% (Distinction)
B.tech – 72% (UP technical University, one of the private colleges in UP)
12th – 65%
10th – 83 %
Some background Information: I have applied to full time in US colleges (top 10-15) and INSEAD but did not get called from I think its because of Indian IT Male over represented pool and more than average age and experience and nothing unique in profile. In my long term future I plan to relocate to India so next best option for me is to look at 1 year MBA programs in India.
Questions:
1: I missed the deadlines for IIMs this year. Should I apply to ISB or wait for IIMs next year.
2: Would I be a good fit at the IIMs, would I have a fair chance?
3: Would it make sense for me to apply to other MBA programs in Asia such as NUS, HKUST etc or IIMs/ISB would be a better option. For me post MBA job would be the primary criteria as I need to support family.
4: Should I be looking at MBA at all or I am too late for MBA?
Eagerly looking forward to your reply.
Thanks in advance.
Best Regards,
Vivek

First of all I would like to thank you for guiding candidates like me through your very informative blog.
I am at a stage where I am in desperate need for career guidance. I plan to do my MBA from the US/Europe, however the timeline would depend on the decision I take now.
I have completed my graduation in Business Studies from Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies (Univ. of Delhi) with a 73% aggregate. Further, my GMAT score is 720.
Post graduation, I worked with a management consulting firm- AT Kearney as a researcher for 14 months.
After that I ventured into entrepreneurship, and was able to raise investment for the same. After a year and half of starting my venture, things havent worked out well and hence I have decided to start building my profile for an MBA.
As of now I have two options (Please note that I have offers from both the organizations) :
1. Teach for India as a Fellow
2. Bain Capability Center as a second year analyst
My final goal now is to get into management consulting.
I am really confused as of now, because even though Bain is a good brand, my job profile will not be at par with my competitors.
I would really appreciate your inputs on the same.
Thanks in advance!

I am stuck in my career phase. I am 29 years old. I was pursuing CA, however not able to clear Final stage. also don't feel like studying same things over and over. Not able to concentrate on it and hence not clearing it. Currently I am only a graduate and doing a job with not good enough salary. to get a better job, I need a post graduate degree.
I also thought of going for MBA, but I have following concerns regarding it:
1. It takes 2 year for regular one. At this age I think its too late to join now. For executive ones it requires at least 5 years experience, which i don't have.
2. the fees for such courses is too high.
Could you please suggest me a course with short duration which can give my career a boost.
