I must admit I'm really impressed when I randomly hit MBAcrystalball.com. and I've read few of 'achamba adventures' and have also ordered 'Beyond MBA Hype'. Waiting for it eagerly.
I've completed my B.TECH and currently having 1.7 years of work ex. Now I'm about to start my preparation for exams for MBA. BUT m confused between CAT and GMAT.
Should I join CAT coaching and also give GMAT or vice a versa? which is better? Can both exams be prepared simultaneously or they need dedicated approach?
Actually I want to go for ISB, but like every middle class Indian I'm price conscious. I want top class management education in affordable price. So there's option for FMS Delhi, but again I need to get back to work quickly. So there comes ISB in picture. What should I do? Should I prefer quality n live with huge financial burden?
Pls help.
Waiting eagerly for your insights.
Regards
Abhishek K Dhumal
Edit: I've almost finished "beyond MBA hype" and I liked it so much. A real infotainment.

Hope ur doing well. Just Needed help on making a final decision
I have recently secured an admission at Rotman with a 10k schol. I applied to US schools too (Cornell, duke, yale, stern) but didn't get in.
just wanted to know whether its worth waiting for a year more and apply to schools such as UNC, UT- Austin or instead go ahead with Rotman.
A brief background about my profile:
Gmat 700
Chartered accoutant(1st attempt)
Total work ex - 3 years (2 years at a boutique buy side fund doing equity research (fund size 100mn$) and 1 year in corporate banking at bank of baroda)
NGOs' and extras: blogger for a non profit(written over 300 articles) and a mentor at another NGO. A couple of Guest lectures at undergrad Colleges in Mumbai
Certifications from coursera - 2 upenn courses on finance and leadership and 1 from yale on financial markets. another on campus program at IIM -B on leadership
Would be great if u could help decide
Look forward to hear from U soon.
Thanks

Nagpur I want to pursue MBA in USA right after my graduation which
means i would not have any work experience so are there any good
Bschools that accept students without work experience
and have good placement record (waiting and gaining work experience is not an option as my family wants me to do my mba right after gaduation)
BBA CGPA -7.3
Xth CGPA 8.8
XII Percentage -70%
Gmat score -680
work experience -none
I want to ask that is it worth doing MBA in US in this economy
2) should i Pursue my path for MBA in US or should i look for good MBA college in India
3) Are there good Bschols in US who accepts applicant without work experience
4) If yes for my MBA financing should i retake my Gmat to increase my chances of getting scholarships/waivers

Good Afternoon
After 5 years of a career going nowhere and a lot of bad academic choices, it dawned on me that I should make a change. I need to get my act together and work hard towards achieving what I want to be proud of for my life.
Im an average student and been callous about it for whatever inane reasons but I am ready to work hard for a change. I wanted to know if I am to work towards to get an admission into a ivy league b school, would this past be a hindrance or would there be a hope for a fresh start?

However, i wish to do a 1 year advanced mngmt course from 1 of the reputed B schools in the US after completing my 2 year PGDM/MBA from India.
I have 20 months of workex as of today in the IT sector and plan on working for 1.5 years after my mba before filling applications for the advanced course.
My question is whether a total of 3 years workex and a prior MBA degree(with good acads in 10th,12th and undergrad) be sufficient for getting into 1 of the top 5 progs.
What kind of a gmat score should i be targetting? Which schools are good when it comes to advance mgmnt progs. How should i go about it?
Any help would be appreciated. Looking forward to your response.
Thanks in advance!!

I am having 2.5 years of work exp as of now in IT sectoras well as I am not having good acads like x-82.9,xi-69 btech-7.6.
This year could not convert a good b-school.So next year when i will appear it would be around 3 years (by septembeer)
So should i try next year or else go for executive mba?
Please suggest.

Hope you haven't made Achamba your role model!
Too early for GMAT at this stage, Abhishek. CAT would be better. It's not a idea to prepare for both exams simultaneously.abhidhoom wrote:Should I join CAT coaching and also give GMAT or vice a versa? which is better? Can both exams be prepared simultaneously or they need dedicated approach?
It seems unaffordable right now because you haven't saved enough and the experience is less. In a few years time, when you are closer to the average applicant to ISB, it won't seem so exorbitant considering your salary at that time.abhidhoom wrote:Actually I want to go for ISB, but like every middle class Indian I'm price conscious.

American bschools would've given you access to many more MBA opportunities.chiranshu wrote:I have recently secured an admission at Rotman with a 10k schol.

Unless you think your profile and application approach will be substantially stronger than last season, it might be wiser to hang on to the bird in hand. If you are ok with working in Canada, Rotman is a good bschool.

As of now, the U.S. economy is doing well (after a long bad phase), as far as MBA jobs are concerned.prakhar2509 wrote:I want to ask that is it worth doing MBA in US in this economy
Given your lack of work experience, CAT MBA programs would be better.prakhar2509 wrote:should i Pursue my path for MBA in US or should i look for good MBA college in India
Here's a list of the Top MBA colleges in USA that accept freshers without work experience.prakhar2509 wrote:3) Are there good Bschols in US who accepts applicant without work experience
With zero experience, a very high GMAT score wouldn't get you a free ride at the top bschools. For lower ranked schools, you may get a positive response.[prakhar2509 wrote:4) If yes for my MBA financing should i retake my Gmat to increase my chances of getting scholarships/waivers
