I’m not sure if these questions were meant for Paul. But as this is an old post, I don’t think he’d be checking it for follow-up comments. So if it’s ok with you, let me take a shot at your queries.

- Profiles of successful IT/males:
There’s no standard definition for a ‘perfect IT Male profile’. Each successful IT applicant brings a unique set of qualities and perspectives that go beyond the day-to-day work that s/he does.

Leadership can be shown irrespective of the designation or corporate structure. It’s more about being open to opportunities (formal or informal) whenever and wherever you see them. Professional leadership stories are great, but if you don’t have them, you can look at extra curriculars as well.

Product based companies provide other ways to demonstrate your potential. Your stories will be different from regular service based companies. That’s an advantage for you. So don’t worry about the hierarchy.

Do Indian IT males stand a chance in Indian Bschools? Of course they do. It just gets tougher with such a profile. But there are tons of IT engineers getting into the top bschools across the world.

This is a good post,
What exactly is the profile an average IT male who makes through to good schools ?
How can we show leadership in organizations that have a relatively flat hierarchy ?
Its way easier to grow to a managerial role in Indian IT organizations compared to software product MNCs. .
Do we Indian IT male stand any chance in Indian B schools ?

Very informative indeed!
It makes me feel doubly-bad about how badly i wanted to write a book just out of my graduation, but alas i didnt!!
But one quick point, I was looking at the date when this interview was published to relate to the timeline mentioned in the last question but your blog doesnt have date-timestamps. So when was this?
